The Google Shopping feed car parts retailers need, plus eBay, Amazon, Auto Trader and Motors feeds
A Google Shopping feed car parts retailers can rely on needs GTINs, clean titles, correct categories and fitment-aware attributes, refreshed as prices and stock move. We build and run feeds for Google Merchant Center, eBay, Amazon and, for dealers, Auto Trader Connect, Motors and Google Vehicle Ads, with validation and monitoring so listings stay live.
A feed is a contract between your catalogue and a channel. Google Merchant Center wants a GTIN, a title that names the part and its fitment, a Google product category, price with VAT, availability and an image that meets its minimums. eBay wants the same product plus a K-Type compatibility list. Amazon wants GTIN-keyed listings with ACES fitment. Each channel disapproves silently when a field drifts, and a disapproved product is invisible until someone notices. Feed management is the discipline of noticing before the customer does.
Dealers have their own feed stack. Auto Trader Connect is a JSON API for real-time stock, images, pricing and valuations, with a taxonomy that resolves derivatives by VRM or OEM model code; Auto Trader's integration fundamentals require OAuth and proper error handling and partners are certified. Legacy CSV/XML FTP feeds still serve Motors.co.uk, which syndicates to eBay and Gumtree. Google Vehicle Ads is in open beta in the UK and needs a Merchant Center account allow-listed by Google, a dedicated vehicle feed (VIN or VRM, make, model, trim, price, mileage, images, dealer location) and Performance Max campaigns; that Merchant Center account must not also run Shopping ads. Meta ended partner-catalogue vehicle listings in the UK in 2021 and Business Page listings in 2023, so Facebook now means paid Automotive Inventory Ads from a catalogue feed.
Every vehicle feed, whatever the channel, needs the same core: a unique stock ID, VRM, VIN, make, model and derivative (cap ID or Auto Trader taxonomy ID), price with VAT status, mileage, colour, fuel, transmission, body, doors, ordered images at minimum resolution, description, dealer or location ID and attention-grabber or finance data. We build one canonical record and map outward, using Channable, GoDataFeed, Linnworks or ChannelAdvisor where a tool fits and custom code where it does not.
How it works
End to end
- 01
Fix the source of truth
Parts: the PIM or store catalogue. Vehicles: the DMS or Auto Trader, decided field by field. Every feed reads from one canonical record, never from another feed.
- 02
Map to each channel's schema
Attribute-by-attribute mapping to Google Shopping, eBay (with K-Types), Amazon (with ACES), Auto Trader Connect JSON, Motors feed spec, Google vehicle feed and Meta vehicle catalogue, including category taxonomies and VAT-status fields.
- 03
Apply rules
Title templates that name brand, part, fitment and OE number; margin and price rules; exclusions for lines without GTIN or image; no-VAT and VAT-qualifying handling for commercial stock.
- 04
Validate before sending
Schema validation, GTIN checksums, image dimensions, required-field checks and a dry run against Merchant Center diagnostics or the channel sandbox.
- 05
Schedule full and delta updates
Price and stock deltas every few minutes where the channel supports it, full feeds nightly, and immediate removal on sale or stock-out.
- 06
Monitor and alert
Disapproval counts, feed errors, stale items, missing images and sold stock still advertised, surfaced in a dashboard with alerts to the person who can fix them.

Data sources
Providers we integrate
We are provider-neutral: we pick the source that fits your budget, licensing position and the fields you actually need.
| Source | What it returns | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Google Merchant Center (Shopping and Vehicle Ads) | Shopping listings for parts and accessories; Vehicle Listing Ads for dealer stock via a dedicated vehicle feed and Performance Max. | Vehicle Ads is open beta in the UK; the Merchant Center account must be allow-listed via Google's contact form and must not run Shopping ads. Feeds accepted as TSV/XML per the Merchant Center spec. |
| eBay (Trading, Inventory and Sell APIs; channel tools) | Parts listings with K-Type compatibility; vehicle classified and auction listings. | Bulk via File Exchange/CSV, M2E Pro, Frooition, 3Dsellers, Linnworks or ChannelAdvisor. Compatibility drives the 'Fits your vehicle' filter. |
| Amazon Seller Central and AMTU | GTIN-keyed listings; ACES fitment for Part Finder and Confirmed Fit. | Fitment via the Amazon Merchant Transport Utility or approved providers; Amazon prefers brand-owner data. Vendor Central for brands. |
| Auto Trader Connect and Stock Sync | Real-time stock, images, pricing, valuations (retail, trade, PX including no-VAT fields), taxonomy lookups and Deal Builder; Stock Sync as the inbound feed from Auto Trader to your site or DMS. | Integration must meet Auto Trader's integration fundamentals (OAuth, error handling); partners are certified. Legacy CSV/XML FTP feeds still exist for older setups. |
| Motors.co.uk | Dealer stock listings syndicated to eBay and Gumtree. | Fed via DMS or feed partners to the Motors feed spec. |
| Meta Automotive Inventory Ads | Paid, catalogue-driven vehicle ads on Facebook and Instagram from a CSV/XML vehicle catalogue. | Partner-catalogue Marketplace listings ended in the UK on 13 September 2021 and Business Page vehicle listings on 30 January 2023; organic dealer listings are no longer available. |
Data quality
Where this goes wrong, and what we do about it
Lines without GTINs or with resold barcodes get disapproved on Google and Amazon.
GTIN checks at ingest, TecDoc GTINs where the brand publishes them, and a GS1 UK prefix for own-brand parts.
Free-text titles and duplicate SKUs produce duplicate offers and poor matching in Shopping.
Templated titles from structured fields (brand, part, fitment, OE number) generated from the master catalogue after deduplication.
Vehicle feeds carry the wrong derivative because the DVLA model string was used instead of the taxonomy ID.
Resolve derivative via Auto Trader taxonomy or cap ID at the point of stocking, and validate the ID before every send.
Price and VAT status disagree between channels: a no-VAT commercial vehicle shown with VAT on one portal and without on another.
Hold VAT status as a field on the canonical record and map it explicitly to each channel's price fields.
Sold cars and out-of-stock parts stay live for days, generating leads you cannot fulfil.
Event-driven removal on sale or stock-out, plus a daily reconciliation that compares each channel against the source of truth.
Fitment says one thing on the site and another on eBay because the two were built separately.
Generate eBay compatibility from the same K-Type linkages that drive the on-site parts finder.

Feed Management: common questions
What does a Google Shopping feed for car parts need?
Per product: a unique ID, GTIN, title naming brand, part and fitment, description, Google product category, price with VAT, availability, condition and an image meeting Google's minimums. Fitment-aware titles and attributes improve matching; missing GTINs cause disapprovals.
Can I run Google Vehicle Ads in the UK?
Yes, in open beta. You need a Merchant Center account allow-listed by Google, a dedicated vehicle feed with VIN or VRM, make, model, trim, price, mileage, images and dealer location, and Performance Max campaigns. That Merchant Center account must not also run Shopping ads.
Can dealers still list cars on Facebook Marketplace from a feed?
No. Partner-catalogue vehicle listings ended in the UK in September 2021 and Business Page listings in January 2023. Dealers now use paid Automotive Inventory Ads driven by a catalogue feed, or manual listings from personal profiles.
How often should a parts feed update?
Price and stock deltas as often as the channel allows, typically every few minutes to an hour, with a full feed nightly. Items should be removed the moment they sell out. Fitment and content can update on your catalogue release cycle.
Do I need Channable or Linnworks, or can you build it custom?
Either. Off-the-shelf feed tools cover standard mappings quickly and are the right call for many stores. Custom code wins where you need K-Type compatibility, Auto Trader Connect, DMS sources or rules the tools cannot express. We often combine both.
What is the difference between Auto Trader Connect and a stock feed?
Connect is Auto Trader's JSON API for real-time stock, images, pricing, valuations and taxonomy, with certified integrations. A stock feed is the older CSV/XML file pushed on a schedule. Stock Sync is the reverse: Auto Trader feeding your website or DMS.
