Amazon Automotive fitment data and Part Finder listings

Amazon Automotive fitment is what puts your parts in front of a buyer who has told Amazon what car they drive. We prepare TecDoc K-Type compatibility for Amazon's Part Finder, build clean ASIN listings in the automotive category and keep price and stock synchronised with your store, so the fitment stripe says the part fits and it does.

Amazon.co.uk's Part Finder lets a shopper save their vehicle and filters the automotive category to parts with matching fitment. On Amazon's European marketplaces fitment is keyed to TecDoc K-Type numbers (and KBA numbers in Germany), unlike the US where ACES data is used. A part without fitment attached simply does not appear when the buyer has a vehicle selected, however good the listing.

Fitment on Amazon is more controlled than on eBay. Amazon prefers compatibility data from the brand owner or from an approved data provider, and sellers attach it through the automotive listing templates and feeds rather than free-form. We work out which route applies to your catalogue: brand owners and manufacturers submit fitment directly, resellers rely on the brand's data where it exists and add their own where it does not, and used parts need a different approach again. We are honest when a line cannot be given fitment on Amazon.

Beyond fitment, the listing itself has to meet the automotive category requirements: brand, manufacturer part number, OE numbers where applicable, correct product type and attribute set, images that meet the style guide. We build the catalogue feed once, submit it through Seller Central or the Selling Partner API, and then keep price and stock in sync with your website, eBay and any other channel.

Sound familiar?

You probably need this if

  • Your parts are on Amazon but vanish when a buyer selects their car in Part Finder.
  • Listings are built by hand from a spreadsheet and half of them have missing attributes.
  • Amazon stock is a copy of website stock and oversells every time you run a promotion.
  • You have TecDoc data for eBay and no idea how to use it for Amazon.
  • Category approval or listing errors have stalled you for months.

Process

How we approach it

  1. Catalogue and fitment audit

We review your product data and existing Amazon listings, check brand registry status and identify which lines can carry fitment and from which source.

  2. Build fitment data

K-Type lists are compiled per part from TecDoc, manufacturer data or your own mapping, validated and formatted for Amazon's compatibility submission.

  3. Listing feed

ASINs are created or matched, attributes completed to the automotive product type and images checked against the style guide, then submitted in batches.

  4. Sync

Price, inventory and orders are connected to your store through the Selling Partner API with a single source of truth for stock.

  5. Monitor and improve

Suppressed listings, fitment gaps and attribute warnings are reviewed weekly during launch and monthly thereafter under retainer.

Amazon Automotive Integration: common questions

What is Amazon Part Finder?

The tool on Amazon that lets a shopper save their vehicle and filter automotive results to parts recorded as compatible. Listings with fitment data show a confirmation on the product page; listings without it are hidden when a vehicle is selected.

What fitment data does Amazon UK use?

On Amazon's European marketplaces, including the UK, vehicle compatibility is keyed to TecDoc K-Type numbers (KBA numbers in Germany). The US marketplace uses ACES. If you already hold TecDoc data for eBay, much of it can be reused.

We are a reseller, not the brand. Can we add fitment?

Sometimes. Amazon prefers fitment from the brand owner or an approved provider, and where the brand has already supplied it your ASINs inherit it. For lines without brand fitment we assess whether a submission from you will be accepted before doing the work.

Can you keep Amazon stock in sync with our website and eBay?

Yes. We connect inventory through the Selling Partner API with your store or warehouse system as the single source of truth, so a sale on any channel reduces stock everywhere within minutes.

Do we need category approval to sell car parts on Amazon?

Some automotive sub-categories and brands are gated and require approval or invoices. We check what applies to your lines during the audit and handle the application where one is needed.
