Digital agency for car dealers
Car dealer marketing only works when the website, the stock feed and the DMS agree with each other. We build dealer sites that pull stock from Auto Trader Connect or your DMS, rank for your own name and models, and turn enquiries into test drives. Franchised, independent, group or supermarket, we have stood on the forecourt.
The UK motor trade sold 2,020,520 new cars and 7,807,872 used cars in 2025, and most of the retail demand for both runs through one marketplace. Around 80% of retailers advertise on Auto Trader, the average retailer pays £2,995 a month for the privilege, and buyers take around 87 days from first search to purchase. That is the environment every dealer website has to earn its keep in: a long, marketplace-heavy buying journey where your own site is often the last place a buyer looks before they ring.
We work with the systems you already run. At group and franchised level that means Keyloop or Pinewood as the DMS, an OEM-mandated web platform, enquiryMax or Dealerweb for leads and iVendi or Codeweavers for finance. Independents tend to run Click Dealer, Dragon2000, MotorDesk or DealerDesk, price with cap hpi Black Book or Auto Trader Retail Check and talk to customers on WhatsApp. Stock moves between all of these as Auto Trader Connect JSON, legacy CSV over FTP, Google vehicle feeds and Meta catalogue files, and every one of them needs a unique stock ID, VRM, VIN, derivative, VAT-status price, mileage and a set of ordered images. Get one field wrong and the car is invisible or mispriced on one portal and correct on another.
The compliance layer is real and we write to it. Any price of credit on a page triggers a representative example under FCA CONC 3, and the representative APR has to be one that at least 51% of respondents would get. Consumer Duty applies to your finance calculator and your enquiry journey. The motor-finance redress scheme (PS26/3) covers agreements from April 2007 to November 2024 and has brought claims-management traffic to dealer names. The DMCC Act 2024 puts admin fees in the headline price. Fuel and CO2 figures in adverts must be WLTP. We build these rules into templates so your sales team cannot publish a page that breaks them.
Two things most dealer marketing ignores. First, aftersales: servicing, MOT, parts and bodyshop are the profit engine and usually get no marketing at all, when the DVSA MOT History API will tell you exactly when every customer's test is due. Second, the ZEV mandate: 28% of new car sales need to be battery-electric in 2026 against a 23.4% share achieved in 2025, so franchised sites need EV merchandising (battery health, range, home charging) that actually helps a nervous buyer.
The usual problems
- All our traffic comes from Auto Trader
The monthly bill goes up, the leads are shared with every dealer in the county, and the website gets whatever is left over.
- The website is still showing cars we sold last week
Feeds run overnight, images go missing, a price change in the DMS never reaches the site and a buyer drives 40 miles for a car that has gone.
- Enquiries fall between the website, the phone and the DMS
A web lead lands in one inbox, a call goes to a salesperson's mobile and neither reaches the CRM. Nobody knows the true cost per sale.
- Our finance adverts make us nervous
Representative APR, Consumer Duty and commission disclosure are all live issues and nobody in the showroom is a compliance officer.
- The OEM template will not let us change anything
Franchised sites lock down page structure, local content and tracking, so the local dealer cannot rank for the town they trade in.
- Aftersales gets no marketing at all
Service and MOT revenue depends on customers remembering to call, while the fast-fit chain up the road sends reminders every month.

Content & VideoFranchised dealers
Around 4,500 franchised outlets operate in the UK, most of them inside groups and most of them on a web platform the manufacturer chose. The OEM controls the brand, the templates and often the tracking. That leaves the local dealer with a page that looks like every other one in the network and cannot rank for the town it trades in. We work inside those rules: local landing content where the platform allows it, Google Business Profile and review management, aftersales campaigns and paid search that the OEM template does not stop you running.
Franchised sites also carry the ZEV-mandate pressure. With a 28% battery-electric target for 2026 and a 23.4% share achieved in 2025, the stock you need to sell is the stock buyers are least sure about. We build EV pages that explain charging, range and battery health in plain English and put used-EV stock in front of the right searches.
Aftersales is the part of a franchised business that pays the wages and the part with the least marketing. We connect the DMS service history and the DVSA MOT History API to reminder campaigns, build online service booking and make sure the parts counter has a page that Google can find.
Independent & used car dealers
Independents are the largest population in the trade, from a 20-car pitch to a 500-car site, and almost all of them rent their traffic from Auto Trader. Used car transactions hit 7,807,872 in 2025, the third year of growth, and used battery-electric sales rose 45.7% to 274,815. The dealers winning share are pricing with data, photographing well, responding fast and building a direct brand so that the marketplace is one channel rather than the only one.
Our work for GD Cars is typical of the brief: a WordPress rebuild with proper vehicle pages, a stock feed that stays in step with the portal, and a full redirect map so that years of SEO equity survived the move. We integrate Click Dealer, Dragon2000, MotorDesk or DealerDesk, add cap hpi or Auto Trader valuations for part-exchange and make finance pages that carry a compliant representative example.
Reviews matter more for independents than anyone. We put Google, Auto Trader and Trustpilot reviews to work on the site, set up a review request in the after-sale email and make sure Google Business Profile is complete, categorised and answering questions.
Dealer groups
A group of five to fifty sites runs on a shared DMS, usually Keyloop or Pinewood, and needs one website architecture that serves each franchise, each location and the group brand without duplicating content. We build multi-site structures with location and franchise pages that Google treats as distinct, shared stock logic with per-site pricing rules and a single feed layer to Auto Trader, Motors, eBay, Google and Meta.
Group marketing lives or dies on attribution. We connect web forms, call tracking and chat to the CRM so that every enquiry has a source, a site and a cost, and the board can see cost per sale by location rather than a blended figure. Where the group runs enquiryMax, RAPID RTC or a HubSpot layer we integrate rather than replace.
Supermarkets
Car supermarkets trade on volume, price and choice: hundreds or thousands of cars, thin margin per unit and a website that has to behave like an eCommerce store. Search and filter performance, image handling for thousands of vehicles, finance calculators on every listing and reservation or deposit flows matter more than brand storytelling.
We build supermarket sites with fast faceted search, feed ingestion that copes with daily churn in the hundreds, automated image processing and structured data so that every vehicle page is eligible for rich results. Valuation tools for part-exchange and a Google Vehicle Ads feed keep acquisition cost under control at scale.
Vehicle data
Data that does the heavy lifting
dealer stock sync
Dealer stock sync means a car added to the DMS appears on your website, Auto Trader, Motors and eBay with the same price, images and spec, and disappears everywhere when it sells.
Stock Synccar valuation API

Vehicle Valuation ToolsMOT history API
The DVSA MOT history API gives you every MOT test since 2005 for a registration: result, expiry date, odometer reading and each defect or advisory by category.

A Google Shopping feed car parts retailers can rely on needs GTINs, clean titles, correct categories and fitment-aware attributes, refreshed as prices and stock move.
Feed ManagementCar Dealers: common questions
Can you build a dealer website that takes stock from Auto Trader?
Yes. Auto Trader Stock Sync feeds your listings into the site, and Auto Trader Connect lets us push stock, images and prices the other way. We are used to the integration fundamentals Auto Trader requires and to running both alongside a DMS feed.
Do you work with our existing DMS?
Usually. We have integrated Keyloop, Pinewood, Dragon2000, Click Dealer and MotorDesk stock and lead data with websites and CRMs. If your DMS has no API we work from its export files on a schedule.
How do you keep finance adverts compliant?
Templates carry a representative example wherever a rate or monthly figure appears, the representative APR is set by your lender or broker, and finance pages go through your compliance sign-off. We do not give financial advice; we build pages that respect CONC 3 and Consumer Duty.
Is Google Vehicle Ads available in the UK?
It is in open beta. You need a Merchant Center account allow-listed by Google, a dedicated vehicle feed with VRM, make, model, price, mileage and images, and a Performance Max campaign. We set up all three.
Can we reduce what we spend on Auto Trader?
Some dealers do, most rebalance. The goal is a site that ranks for your own name and local model searches, converts well and captures enquiries in a CRM, so that Auto Trader becomes one channel with a measurable cost per sale rather than the only one.
Do you do MOT and service reminders?
Yes. We connect your service history or the DVSA MOT History API to email and SMS campaigns so reminders go out ahead of the due date, with an opt-in and opt-out that satisfy PECR.
