Digital agency for race teams and motorsport

Motorsport website design is judged by sponsors before fans. A team site has to prove audience, show the car and the driver properly, sell merchandise and hospitality, and stay up on race weekend. We have sponsored Time Attack, built AmD Tuning's BTCC sponsorship packages in 2015 and stood in enough paddocks to know what a sponsor asks for.

Motorsport Valley, the cluster from Oxfordshire through Northamptonshire into the Midlands, turned over £16bn in 2023 and employs around 50,000 people, with 89% of companies earning export revenue and 14% of turnover going on R&D. Six Formula 1 teams are headquartered in England. Below them sit BTCC, GT, rally, historic and club teams and thousands of engineering suppliers, most of whom are far better at building things than at telling anyone about it.

For a team, the website is the sponsorship deck that never closes. It needs audience numbers that can be substantiated, a media section with usable imagery, driver and car profiles, a calendar that updates itself from the series, results pulled from TSL or Alpha Timing rather than typed in on Sunday night, and a hospitality and merchandise store that takes money. Then it has to survive a race weekend, when the whole season's traffic arrives in a two-hour window and the shared hosting falls over.

For an engineering firm, the site is the sales team. The capability is world-class and the last website was built in 2012. Buyers in the US, Europe and the Middle East search for the process, the material or the certification, find a competitor and never ring. We build engineering sites around capability pages that rank, case studies that can be published, and enquiry handling that goes into a CRM instead of a shared inbox.

This is our own background. dijitul grew out of the Maxxd club scene, sponsored Time Attack, put together the AmD Tuning BTCC sponsorship packages in 2015 and backed Bobby Thompson's racing. We have watched sponsors read a deck, and we know the questions they ask about reach, activation and data capture. Every motorsport site we build is designed to answer them.

The usual problems

  • The sponsorship deck does not quantify anything

Followers, impressions and paddock footfall with no source, no comparison and no way for a marketing director to justify the spend.

  • The site goes down on race weekend

A year's worth of traffic in one afternoon on £5 hosting, usually while a sponsor is showing it to their board.

  • Hours of video on a hard drive

Onboard, garage and hospitality footage shot every round and never cut, captioned or distributed.

  • World-class engineering, 2012 website

Suppliers with F1 and OEM customers who cannot be found for the capability they are best at.

  • Merchandise and hospitality are an afterthought

A print-on-demand link in the bio and hospitality sold by phone, with no data captured from either.

  • Event data capture with no follow-up

Names collected on a clipboard at the show stand and never emailed.

Race Teams & Motorsport: common questions

What should a race team website include?

Sponsor-facing audience data, a media kit with downloadable imagery, driver and car profiles, an automated calendar and results, a merchandise and hospitality store, news and video, and a contact route for partnership enquiries that lands in a CRM.

Can you pull live results into the site?

Where the series publishes a feed (TSL, Alpha Timing and similar) we can display results and standings automatically. Where it does not, we build a simple results entry tool for the team.

Can you help with the sponsorship proposal itself?

Yes. We have built sponsorship packages for a BTCC team and sponsored a series ourselves. We help structure the tiers, quantify the audience and build the web and social deliverables that sit behind each tier.

Do you work with motorsport engineering suppliers?

Yes. Capability-led websites, technical SEO for process and material searches, case studies cleared for publication and B2B enquiry handling for firms supplying F1, OEM and defence customers.

Will the site cope with race-weekend traffic?

That is what the hosting is specified for: full-page caching, a CDN, load testing before the season and monitoring during it. Static pages for results and news mean the spike never touches the database.
