Source Sounds case study: 43% more organic sessions after a rebuild
Source Sounds is a well-known car audio and vehicle security retailer and installer in Sheffield, supplying professional audio, alarms, dash cameras and other car electronics to enthusiasts, prestige car owners and the public. Our relationship goes back more than twenty years and several generations of website. The latest chapter was a full WordPress rebuild, a gallery migration with nothing lost, and an ongoing organic and local SEO programme that keeps compounding.
The challenge
Around a decade ago Source Sounds brought website management in-house. When that team member left, the site they inherited had been built on a stack of older page builders and slider plugins that were no longer maintained. It still worked, but plugin conflicts, layout bugs, slow page loads and sections nobody dared edit were piling up.
The biggest risk was the image gallery: years of installs, events and products that showed exactly the kind of work the business does. Losing it in a rebuild was not an option.
Beyond the rebuild, the business needed to be found for high-intent local searches such as dash cam fitting and vehicle security installation across Sheffield and the surrounding area, not just for broad product terms.
What we did
We rebuilt the site on a modern WordPress framework using lightweight tooling and current development standards, stripping out the fragile builders and sliders and replacing them with a stable, supported plugin set the Source Sounds team can manage themselves. A purpose-built migration process moved the entire gallery across intact, with room to keep growing.
With the foundation fixed we ran a full optimisation programme: keyword and competitor research, on-page and metadata work, internal linking and continuous technical SEO through Search Console. Service-specific landing pages such as Thinkware dash cam installation in Sheffield capture customers who are close to buying rather than browsing.
Local search does much of the heavy lifting for an installer, so we actively manage the Google Business Profile: regular updates, service optimisation, image uploads and Google Posts. Month to month we handle organic SEO, local SEO, technical audits, landing page development, performance monitoring and content refinement.
“These guys are very professional and have worked for us for years and years, always giving us 100%. Give them a try — you won’t be disappointed.”

Local SEO
Local SEO for garages is mostly about the map pack: when someone types 'MOT near me' at 8am, Google shows three businesses, and the phone rings for those three.
